Grace, online gambling can be a lot of fun and profitable too, but do read the fine print and stick to the larger more reliable sites.

I'll keep that in mind Vicki if I decide to visit them.

The thought of losing money just that quickly could be something to keep me away. But it sounds like such fun.

The larger sites must make quite a lot of money for sure.

The larger gambling sites do multi-million dollar business each year. It's interesting also to see that some of them are beginning to get into trouble with the U.S. since, technically, this kind of gambling isn't completely legal in the U.S. That's why all the online sites are based outside of the U.S.

I would think with online gambling's popularity that we will start to see some sort of international guidelines or laws soon.

It's the same in France. The government is supposed to have a monopoly on gambling (to prevent private sector abuse, and make a bit of money). These online gambling sites infringe on this monopoly.

A lot of gambling sites run out of very very small countries, were business men can get very familiar with local government officials. There is a small island in the medeteranian which does this (the population is extremely small, and many gambling sites run out from it).

What it amouts to is: don't expect the law to protect you with these sites

With gambling, it's a dog eat dog world where money is the name of the game.

Well yes, gambling is all about money, but what else would it be about?

I wonder if there's any international trend toward somehow regulating online gambling, and is that even possible? YOu've got European countries like Gibraltar, third world countries like Costa Rica and then the Indian tribes who really don't face any jurisdiction.

Seems like an impossible task!

I have to say after all the Native Americans have been through in the United States, I don't think that some gambling business for them is a bad thing. They deserve all the monetary compensation they can get. What we did to them was illegal and immoral so I think they deserve better.

I don't disagree that Indians should have casinos, but in some cases they're taking advantage of not being under U.S. rules of law, and the consumer is the one who loses in the long run. I'm just for more regulation. If I win money on a site, I want to be able to cash out not have the money sit for them to use for an indeterminate period. To me, that's not fair whether it's Indians or anyone else running a site.
