If you read some of Global Domains International advertising, you will find this interesting little passage about how not everyone got the names they wanted in the .com goldrush. They claim that with GDI you can get the names you've always wanted. When I first came into the magical kingdom of Internet I thought having .ws would be a great thing, and that selling them to new affiliates would be an amazing opportunity. However, I came to realize that the Internet market is literally flooded with these companies that wish to rope you into buying a membership with them and then followup by roping other people into doing that. .ws is not so unique anymore. Many domain places sell these names now, along with dozens of other suffixes and the list is still growing. I've been buying .info names lately. They can sound pretty lame if you don't pick the right domain label to go with .info, but they are cheap. They make good personal websites for individuals, especially young people--johns.info, or whatever, sounds personalized and possessive. It's even more personal and probably safer than something like MySpace.
