Good day to everyone! Big Grin Good mood today as I have been making some progress lately. By the way, I wonder if a domain has word "The" in it especially at the beginning, would it sort of killing off the value?

Has you ever had this type of domain in your portfolio? How does it performing? As a domain investor, has it been able to reap good return for you?Wink
I got some when I was first starting off. I think that it is generally better to avoid "the". It's shorter and for that reason alone it would probably get more hits.
I am trying to think if I have any like that. I don't think so, at least not off the top of my head as it is one of those things I find confusing and I place a lot of value on the ability for a domain to be able to be remembered by visitors. A "the" domain can be remembered without the "the" in which case it does not work.
I don't own any domains starting with "The".
This sort of interested me so I did some searching, and it was funny. If you enter http://www.thenewyorktimes.com , you will get the new york times so they bought it. But if you enter http://www.thebbc.co.uk, you get a handbag company. I thought that was amusing.
Well Vicki, The domain names are partially good and partially bad.
Looks that way, but it also looks like if you have a successful domain where it seems natural to put a 'the' in front of the name, you'd better back it up and by both names.
Interesting test there Vicki. Makes me think about some other sites to see who owns them.

Thegoogle.com is not owned by google.

Themsn.com just brings up a blank page.
I'm not surprised at google because I always think of google as a verb not a noun. It really doesn't work for msn either, does it?

In thinking about it, I can't come up with many sites that use articles at all. The Times just came to mind because it's always been referred to as that in NYC. Most things I thought of were newspapers.
Some domain names sound bad with "The" in front of it. Many don't need it.
