Question Criteria for Appraising Domains

Just wondering, what are the basis or the criteria used to be able to appraise domains? Thanks for the reply.

That's a good list for sure. One of the things that I think many people look past when they're starting out is the necessity of getting a very short, memorable name with a keyword either as the actual name or as a part of it. That's a great way to up your traffic and the value of the domain quickly.

If you had to choose three criterias from that list what would be the three most important ones?

Would the keyword's being in the domain name be less important if the domain had been effectively developed? It seems that if a domain is drawing a good chunk of traffic, the presence of a keyword in the name would be less important.

I would have to agree from what I have seen that the keyword within the domain and the brand are two very important criterias.

Importance of keyword within domain names will never change.

Example...
kjfjalfj.com - credit card related site optimized with "credit card" keywords, descriptions and on page SEO.
CreditCard.com - optimized exactly like above domain.
CreditCard.com will always be above kjfjalfj.com

You need not be SEO professional/specialist to know this.
It's common sense

Keywords are very important on the domain. Then the domain has a focus and simplicity. The other reason is because we use those to search for these items, like credit cards. You're providing the correct words for what they need.

Basically the things assessed are how likely people are to visit it. The name itself is important, the lenght is important, the suffix is VERY important (.com, .net, .org etc). Anything that can help get people to visit it or put people off visiting it is a big deal.
