Default Creating Affiliate Agreements

I have grown sick of seeing the same affiliate programs on sites that are like mine, so I have taken to looking at businesses that I have had personal experience with and building affiliate or advertising relationships with them. I think this will garner more attention as these businesses will be a breath of fresh air for the niche I am focused on.

Has anyone tried this?

I understand your tact but let me give your a different pov.

People are more comfortable with what they are more familiar with. So, they are more likely to click on a recognizable name brand than something they never heard of. You might want to think about a mix with this suggestion and your method.

Thing is, my site will not be dealing with brand names except to discuss their ingredients. Items from brand name companies won't be sold, but I understand your point. Mentioning the brand names in the articles and relating that information to the affiliate providing a particular ingredient might help those who might be skittish.

You miss the point. You don't want to be advertising anything in competition with your products. You do want to advertise affiliates that complement your site. For example at my site the initiative it is about taking action, so Donald Trump and Anthony Robbins are among my affliaties. You don't want afflitiates that conflict with or sell similar products. If you want to cater to a specific clientele you want advertisers that appeal to them. You do beauty products so a suggestion is music and apparel that appeal to you core target group.

This reminds me of several affiliate sites I've seen. They're very similar in design and I think that's to their disadvantage.

I agree completely, I have seen so many sites like that anymore, I can tell even before they are fully loaded and I leave.

Too many times lately I have seen twin-ish sites. Maybe just a slight color change.

Not advertising the other products. Discussing their ingredients, pointing out where to buy the active ingredients only, not the product's blend, for personal blending.
