My easy solution to this dilemma of annoying ads on the site is this:

NEVER EVER VISIT THE PORN SITES!! Ha!Smile

Meanwhile while you are playing around trying navigate through those annoying ads which are meant to distract you, tracking cookies and other more lethal spyware is being deposited on your hardrive. Have fun becauses it will be at your own exprense.

Porn sites are notorious for pop ups and adware. If the popups are getting past your popup blocker, I'd just recommend finding another site to browse. I'm not a porn fan myself though.

I know what kind of ads you're talking about. I've seen a few different types. Some of them appear similar to regular windows but are actually embedded in the page you are viewing, so you can't block them and if you use some kind of shortcut, the whole page closes. Others have crazy shapes and lots of flashy, moving things and sometimes its hard to find out how to close them (I've seen a lot of Russian music sites with these kinds of ads, and when there's the Russian word for "close" instead of an x, it's hard sometimes to guess where to click).

Many non-pornographic sites that have these kinds of ads. A pop-up blocker doesn't help, because the "pop-ups" are just objects embedded in the page that "float" on top of the actual content. Many of them are flash-based.

I visited a site that had those exact kinds of pop-up adds on it. I couldn't believe that someone in charge put those on for people to see. You can't do anything but restart your computer. Ha!Smile

Yes, they have to embedded in the page, because I have all the pop-ups blocket, but they are just floating in the page and following ups and downs. If you find the point to close it, you can continue watching whatever. I haven't had any problems so far. I'm just annoyed at those ads.

The other site that has major pop up windows is 123Greetings.com. I use it for sending free e-cards to family members who live far away. It's terribly full of those popups!

I recently was at a forum that decided to embed the floating ads and literal filled up the screen because it was done wrong.

The thing is, I "run away" from those kinds of ads... and I think many people would too. So, why put them in your site and risk people not to come and much less click the ads? Although since they are everywhere, one might click it by accident!
