Ebay Cancelled my domain Auction. - DomainExperiment.com - 01-25-2007

I can't believe it. Does ebay hate google so much that any mention of them and they shut you down?

2 days ago I listed one of my google domains (PayGbuy.com) on ebay. Then last night I get hit with an cancellation email and subsequently 3 more violation e-mails. Wow I must have did something very bad!!! Well maybe not. You tell me. Here is the first email:

Dear wwwsendpaypalcom,

You recently listed the following auction-style listing:

300073989189 - Hot new Google .com Domain name 1,2,3, letter Short

The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Keyword Spamming policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

In Title:
Google

Keyword spamming is the practice of placing inappropriate words in searchable text to draw attention to Web content.
The Next email explains that my "title was misleading":

Dear wwwsendpaypalcom,

TITLE: Hot new Google .com Domain name 1,2,3, letter Short

The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Misleading Title policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

In Title:
Hot new Google .com Domain name
.....Okay granted I put 1,2,3 letter in the title but guess what everyone does that. See for yourself. Why are they picking on me? The 3rd and 4th e-mail were titled "inappropriate links, SPAMMING VIOLATION" because I put a couple of links in the listing to my DomainExperiment website which explains about my attempt to turn $100 in domains into a Million bucks and displays domains for sale including those in my listings. Well apparently thats okay because as they stated in there violation email:" Sellers can include some types of links in their listing if those links are intended to give potential buyers more detailed information about an item in their listings."

How strange considering that was exactly what the link is for. So how is it in Violation? I should also mention that this is the second time they have done this to me for a google domain name. The first time it was for a google Checkout domain. There Violation e-mail stated that I was prohibited to offer the checkout service as payment. Therefore my auction was cancelled. When I tried to contact them to explain that they had made a mistake and that I was never offering the Google Checkout service just a domain name they neverreturned any of my emails. So i'm thinking they must have a program within ebay that searches for words "checkout or google" then automatically shuts them down. Is this Corporate prejudice? I think ebay has gone a little too far besides isn't a little competition healthy?

While you and many people think that competition is healthy, then maybe for them is not. I think most likely they have a "word detection" software and that's why has shot you down! I hope you can resolve the matter and just keep doing your business. Who knows? Maybe this is a sign that you should not be selling those domains! LOL! Good luck!

maybe it's a trademark protection program? I know that Sedo regularly scans its database for trademarks and delists the name.

Just a possibility...

I think you may be right BerlinLife. Perhaps this is an omen. Someone told me the other day that Paypal was gonna bring a world a hurt down on me because of my SendPaypal.com domain. At the very least maybe I can squeeze $1000 out of them just to hand it over.

Really , do you think you will get that much???

Well, I don't know if he can get that for that domain, but Zach just wrote that he sold a domain for $1000. So it is possible! It is a matter of finding the right people at the right moment so they can actually put up the money you are asking for... basic economics in a very fast moving world!

How are they to know that PAYGBUY is a google related domain? How do I know? I don't. I agree with them.

Why would ebay cancel your domain for this? I really can't understand the reason why!! Well the fact is that they canceled it Sad

The OP posted the reasons why. I guess some people just won't accept it for
whatever reason.

You don't play by someone's rules when using their service, then get ready
to be disappointed.

If you feel the others are violating ebay's rules, then perhaps you'd care to
report them? If you're up to it, anyway.
