It is proven that web sites with more complex layout and heavy graphics not only reduce the performance of the web site but also you will lose your audience. Always keeping things simple is best. You can refer any of the web giants out there on the World Wide Web, like Google, Face book, Yahoo etc; they dont carry heavy graphics or complex designs. They serve their visitors with what they exactly wanted and keep things simple, or in other word. when a visitor visits your site to a get train ticket, inviting him with a huge train which eats loads of his time - makes no sense.
