Well, social bookmarking is with places like Digg. You point to the content on these sites and if people like the article, they digg it too. Another site similar is FURL. I get a lot of hits on my articles by bookmarking them for furl. Not a ton, per say, but several.

From my experience a lot of these are submitted to search engines, which will already pick up your site once you start getting links and get listed in the major search engines. There is no value to getting listed in minor search engines, for the most part, as you will end up there anyways.

Definitely start by submitting to the most reliable sources and work your way toward social bookmarking. Bulk submission is mostly a waste of money. I do not believe there is a quick way to be recognized on the Internet other than hardwork and dedication.

I second that. You can try to get great rank with wonderful content, but unless your site is extremely rare, you're going to have trouble without SEO and a bunch of constant work.
