That's a lot of questions for a thread, but to answer them really quickly, here it goes:
1. Sedo acts as a kind of escrow. The buyer transfers the money to Sedo, and Sedo Transfers it to you. Also, only transfer the site/domain AFTER you have been paid.
2. List sites at all the brokerages (afternic sedo, etc.) and here on the Domain Social Forum.
3. Generally paypal or bank transfer. Cheque is less common.
4. .net is about 1/3rd of the value of a .com, the others are about 1/4 the value of a .net
5. yes, you can judge yourself (theres a detailed section on this in the Domain Book). Also, you can get free apraisals here in the appraisal section of the forum.
In your case, I do recommend that you go out and get the Domain Book. It is perfect for getting you started in this business and helping you close your first sale.
