Coutries that purchase the most of domain names?
Posted by: llegent - 07-20-2006, 03:52 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - Replies (8)

Out of curiousity, which are countries would you think purchase the most domain names in term of number of domains? I believe US is most likely ranked at the top position, with UK follwing at 2nd place.

What's your guess?:p

note:- admin, could you kindly help to add "n" in the word "coutry"? I missed it out..sorry!

  Domain based phishing scams?
Posted by: llegent - 07-20-2006, 03:45 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - Replies (7)

Hello, wonder if anyone come across phising activities on fraudulent sites which are displaying "recognizable" domain names? Beofre this, numerical IP address were use for phishing activities, now it seems that those people are moving toward using domain names in their spoof activities.

As a surfer, it appear less suspicious if a site is displaying a recognizable domain name versus numerical IP address. Well, when we do see numerical IP display in browser, we will definitely be much alert. But what about domain name?? Would you be less alert and not suspicious if you were to reach a site that display a domain in your broswer??

Grabbing series of major TLD for your domain?
Posted by: llegent - 07-20-2006, 03:17 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi everyone here. I noticed that is has become a common practice for big business entity to just register a whole series of major TLD (.com, .net, .biz, .org, .info ) when they wanted to register a domain name. This will help to sort of protect the business branding if they are going to use the said domain for ecommerce activities.

However, as individual domainer, would you also be doing the same? i.e. if your want to register a domain "mysite", would you also register :-
1. mysite.com
2. mysite.org
3. mysite.biz
4. mysite.net
5. mysite.info

Or you would just register some of it?

Posted by: zach - 07-20-2006, 02:55 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (33)

Hi

We have two designs, and as the site has grown, one might be better than the other. Since this is a community, I would appreciate your input as to which you prefer.

1. Here is a fluid version:
http://www.domainsocial.com/?styleid=2

2. Here is the current default, a fixed version:
http://www.domainsocial.com/?styleid=3

please vote as to which you prefer and if you want post a comment explaining why.

What if two people are in a domain dispute and one of them had the domain name first, but the other one had a business with the name first for a much longer period of time?

Anyone have any experience with AdBrite either as an advertiser or publisher? I have heard a lot about them recently, but am looking for some more informative insight before I jump in.

Would pointing several domain to a same site hurt SERP?
Posted by: llegent - 07-19-2006, 05:29 PM - Forum: Search Engines and Marketing - Replies (1)

Hi guys, realizing that some of my domains which are currently parked do received some traffic here and there occasionally, but there seldom incurred any clicks in them and didn't earn me a good income, in fact they were almost zero.

So I am thinking, instead of wasting the potential trafic for these domains, wouldn't it be better if I were to point them to my main site which is developed and ready to received more traffic! Big Grin

However, I am quite concern as to would doing this could potentially hurt my SERP or not? I have this concern due to such practise might be viewed as "bumping" or "blackhat" trick to the eye of major SE. I have no worries if I only point 2 or 3 domains, but I plan to build up a little bit of my domain portfolio and point them (about 20domains) to the main site, that's why I am little bit concern about this.

Or did I "over" anxious?:p

  Domain starting with "The"?
Posted by: llegent - 07-19-2006, 01:21 PM - Forum: Domain Name Appraisals - Replies (10)

Good day to everyone! Big Grin Good mood today as I have been making some progress lately. By the way, I wonder if a domain has word "The" in it especially at the beginning, would it sort of killing off the value?

Has you ever had this type of domain in your portfolio? How does it performing? As a domain investor, has it been able to reap good return for you?Wink

  4letter domains?
Posted by: llegent - 07-19-2006, 12:39 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - No Replies

Hi everyone, as we aware, 2letters and 3letters domains are almost impossible to get. So now what about 4letters domains? Have you got any luck in landing a nice one? If you do have would you kind enough to share with us your experience?

Are they really worth the expense for someone to purchase it over from previous owner? In regards to spending the money to buy over these domains, what's your advise for someone investing on these domains just because of the short length?Wink

I am reading the other thread, and tried to google PR7 and what you are talking about, but can't find a simple explanation. I know it might be a boring question to answer, but help me out, ok?
