  Anyone tried Yahoo Domains?
Posted by: zach - 07-21-2006, 08:55 PM - Forum: Domain Companies - Replies (45)

Hi

I was wondering whether anyone here has tried registering with Yahoo domains? They aren't really overpriced, and give the first year at yahoo for $2 or $3... this seems like a good idea if you want to test traffic for a year (unless you have to agree to renew the domain).

Has anyone ever tried yahoo domains? Is it a good deal or not? What is the Yahoo support like?

Potential Legal Issues for Typo Squats?
Posted by: llegent - 07-21-2006, 05:41 PM - Forum: Legal Discussion - Replies (16)

While researching for some nice domain with potential type-in traffic, I bumped into some typo error domains. Well, we all know that domain investors are using many way to draw traffic to their domains especially parked domain in order to earn cool nice revenue from PPC.

One of the common way is grabbing those typo errors domain names, which traffic would likely to incurred due to people typing in the wrong url address or simply not sure of the correct spelling so they'll type in what they "think" should be.

Looking at this, let's take an example :- yahooo.com (extra "h") which is a parked domain currently (not mine...but I wish is mine:p). Would it possibly invite legal dispute??

Hellp there! Ok guys and gals, around last year end the .be ccTLD was opened for free registeration. I think it has since closed for free registeration after January if I remembered correctly.

So, how many names you had actually snapped?? I know that it only allow up to 10 names per each account...but well, there's always some loop holes isn't it??:p

Using domain brokerage service to get that "dream" domain?
Posted by: llegent - 07-21-2006, 04:29 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - No Replies

Hello everyone. Well, there are times when we would very much like to own a "premium" domain which has been registered but up for sale! It is like a "dream" domain for you where you just couldn't stop thinking of owning the name!:p

However, to your surprise, that particular domain listed for sale is tag with some "high sky" price which you just couldn't afford! In this situation, instead of trying to negotiate your "ideal" price with the current owner, would you engage "domain brokerage service" and have them negotiate the "best" price for you??

  Escrow Service?
Posted by: llegent - 07-21-2006, 04:08 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi it's me again!Smile Ok, although I have yet to really succeed in selling domain for a good nice price, I heard that it woul dbe advisable to engage an Escrow Service if the amount get large. This is to protect both the seller and buyer from potential fraud and scam.

So, anyone has experience in using Escrow Service while selling or buying domain? or you would just prefer direct dealing based on trust?Wink

I read that with the enormous popularity of blog domains that the next thing will be to have a .wiki domain which will be much like wikipedia in that it is completely interactive.

Has anyone explored these .wiki registrations yet?

Registering both singular and plural domain?
Posted by: llegent - 07-20-2006, 08:04 PM - Forum: Domain Discussion - Replies (9)

Would like to conduct a survey to know if you guys would register both singular and plural for your domain(s)? Well, it is not uncommon practice that some domainers do catch and register the plural version if they couldn't get the singular domain. Could this might due to the potential opportunity to snatch some traffic for the singular domain version.Cool

How do you actually see the potential of plural version for a domain?

  Available Domain Appraisal Service?
Posted by: llegent - 07-20-2006, 07:42 PM - Forum: Domain Name Appraisals - Replies (13)

Hi. I would like to seek for some kind sharing if anyone here had experience using those professional appraisal service before. Although I own several domains, but I have yet to engage any appraisal service before, let alone selling my domains...well I just keep them until anyone interested initiate the contact.

Despite hearing the famous SEDO appraisal service, I have yet to actually give it a shot due to the charges is not cheap. So, are there any good alternatives apart from getting appraised by peers?

Also, I understand that godaddy do provide this service too, just wondering if they are good in this area?

  Fastest growing domain Registrars ?
Posted by: llegent - 07-20-2006, 05:59 PM - Forum: Domain Companies - Replies (32)

Ok buddies, we are well aware that godday in currently topping the first position as the fastest growing domain registrar worldwide. This is despite that they are not having the best price for domain registration!Cool

Apart from godaddy, we also know that ENOW, TUSCOW are the major player in domain registration business. So what about other registrars like :-
1. Registerfly
2. Moniker
3. 1&1
4. NameKing
5. Fabulous

Also, I wonder how those web hosting + domain registrar catch up with the above giant players? Or they just do it as "add-on" service and don't really pay much attention about the sub-income??
